A Perfect Southern Old Edwards Inn Wedding |Part Two | Emily + Tyler | Asheville Wedding Planning and Design

Last Friday we introduced you to Emily and Tyler and their spectacular Old Edwards Inn wedding,  we also told you about how much we loved them (hey, Clemson can happen to good people too you guys!). This week we’re going to talk about our design for Emily and Tyler, with lots of pictures of course! So sit back, and enjoy a beautiful way to start your week out!

All of the weddings we design at Verge Events start with a design meeting. This is where we sit down and get to know you, we also ask you about colors, linens, flower etc. But the most important thing for us is getting to know who you are and what you’re all about! Weddings are beautiful, yes, but more than that it is YOUR day. There is no greater compliment than having a couple say “oh my gosh, this is just so us!” when they see the completed product.

After the design meeting, we take everything we talked about and create a Design Concept. This is a custom document created for our clients, it is a creative map of every detail and area of your wedding, full of pictures and descriptions of the entire space. And along with the Design Concept we deliver a Pinterest board that we curate for you. Pinterest is a tool of the trade, however we always say – treat it as inspiration NOT execution. Pinterest is a great place to get creatively fired-up, but ultimately we want your wedding day to be unique, we want your wedding to be the one that everyone is pinning!

Emily and Tyler came to us wanting a wedding that had a traditional feel to it, reflected their southern roots and had a ton of personal details telling the story of who they are and what they love. We were fortunate to have clients that really trusted us to run with their vision, and we did! Their Pinterest board was a wonderful place for inspiration, it’s still live today and it isn’t coming down any time soon, we love it that much.

Ok! are you guys ready to see some pictures?

As we mentioned in last weeks post Emily and Tyler loved to hunt. We weren’t going to mount a big ol’ moose head over the fireplace but it’s nice to bring in little hints of these kinds of things. We used feathers from ducks they had hunted in every boutonniere.

One of the things we love to work with when we’re designing is patterns, a great pattern on a linen can add an unexpected touch that really amps up the style in a space. Emily and Tyler were totally down for using patterns in their design.

Antlers were also incorporated into the design, again as a nod to their hunting background without smacking you over the head with it – no camo here!

Custom cocktail napkins are also a really great way to add a personalized touch to your wedding without breaking the bank, and the possibilities for design and color are absolutely endless! You don’t have to pick just one style, you can mix and match a couple. It’s like the Snapple Facts version of cocktail napkins 🙂

The reception room was beautifully set for a sit-down dinner, with elegant linens, lots of candlelight and beautiful flowers. The floral design was kept very classic with white and greenery.

Late night snacks are always a HUGE hit. Emily and Tyler wanted to serve a southern favorite, the bird dog. Have no idea what we’re talking about? We figured some of the guests might be in the same boat as you, so we included a description on the cocktail napkin. If you’ve never had a bird dog, go get yourself one immediately. They are delicious. It’s a chicken tender, served in a hotdog bun with bacon, shredded cheese, and honey mustard. YUM.

A beautiful southern wedding for an incredibly lovely and generous couple. This is one we will never forget. Emily and Tyler we wish you many many years of happiness and love.
