life as an asheville wedding planner

sometimes things do not always go to plan.  some things are just completely unavoidable.  for the first time since 2005, we had a vendor completely not show up for a wedding.  we had confirmed with them the week of the wedding.  how someone does business this way, is completely beyond my comprehension.   but…we had to figure out a plan on the spot!  here is abby’s take on the day ::

Back in July,  I got to work at a beautiful wedding at Old Edwards Inn in the Highlands.  It was a beautiful wedding and everything was running smoothly.  Flowers were in the right place, the cake was getting touch ups, and we were placing straws into the signature drinks.  As time was ticking by we noticed that the photobooth hadn’t showed up yet.  The Verge Team immediately started calling the company that was in charge of the photobooth.  Surprisingly, he wasn’t picking up.  We then tried everything to get a hold of him.  From sending him emails to calling every five minuets, we needed to find out out where he was and if we should start finding a plan b.  What is so great about the Verge team is if something doesn’t work out the way that they planned they always find a solution and fix it.  Since the original photobooth wasn’t working out it was time for plan b.  We decided that we now had to create our own photobooth.  Luckily, we had Ian Riley with us, Nicole’s husband, and he is an amazing photographer.  So Ian and I decided to drive 30 minutes to Walmart, buy props, while Nicole, Stephanie, and Brittany’s goal was to find a guest camera that we could use.   Once arriving at Walmart we found everything from tiaras, sonic baseball hats, to a giant margarita glasses.  Ian and I quickly ran around Walmart, grabbed what we needed, and headed back to the Highlands.  Once we got back to Highlands we set the photobooth up and it was an immediate hit with the wedding.  Everyone had so much fun and even though we pulled the photobooth together last minute,  it was totally worth it to see how happy it made the bride and groom.  Verge Events will always make sure your wedding goes perfectly.  If your planning a wedding, make sure to ask your planners for suggestions on vendors.  Hiring amazing vendors is extremely important! So don’t hesitate to ask the Verge Events team for help when it come to your vendors.  Trust me, it is worth it!
