In honor of Independence Day here is a Nautical Americana wedding that plays off crisp white, navy blue and pops of cranberry red. Holidays can be a wonderful opportunity to host a wedding while gathering all your family and friends you were going to see anyway. Without being a kitschy 4th of July wedding, this inspiration board conjures cool summer breezes, glowing sunsets overlooking the lake and a spectacular display of fireworks. Incorporate old 4th of July traditions with new wedding twists like red, white and blue bunting flags as a cake topper or escort cards strung in an old boat. Keep it simple and classic to achieve the perfect, understated Nautical Americana look.  Enjoy!  ~ Brittany

the wednesday rewind!  jennifer’s mom contacted us to help design and coordinate her daughter jennifer’s wedding to ryan, the groom, out at lake eden last fall.  small world – they are from columbia, and huge gamecock fans – as we all know, i am too!  jennifer and i worked together on bringing their ideas together – and we loved the cotton inspired theme!

jennifer and ryan also selected a fantastic vendor team, mostly from asheville planning boutique, StudioWed, to be behind them on their wedding day.  here is their team of fantastic wedding professionals:

{asheville wedding photographer} aaron imaging ; {asheville wedding florist} studio flora diva ; {asheville caterer} the colorful palate ; {asheville wedding officiant} tim lolley, blue mountain weddings ; {asheville wedding venue} lake eden ; {asheville wedding dj} mr. c’s mobile dj ; {asheville wedding makeup} e. scott thompson, makeup at the grove arcade ; {asheville event rentals} classic event rental

in our opinion, ceremonies at lake eden are just fantastic.  the views, the greenery, rolling hills…all make for a perfect setting!  and i love how the bridesmaids dress just pops against the background.

asheville_event_companyhere are a few of our favorite details from the day!  we helped in designing this wedding, and taking what the couple wanted, along with a fantastic asheville wedding florist, Studio Flora Diva,  who could really see and capture what she was going for…and bring it all together for a somewhat vintage feel.  beth {fab florist} used mixed vintage containers as the vessels for the flowers, and incoporated cotton into the floral – which made for something different and truly spectacular.

In preparation for our Wednesday Wedding Rewind, I had to share these pictures from the oh-so talented Asheville wedding photographer, Aaron Imaging.  love. love. love.

The next one holds a soft spot in my heart.  This location is right across the street from where my dad worked.  I have such fond memories of going to work with dad and seeing this building each time.  Of course the couple had no idea, so imagine my surprise when I looked at the pics!

…and a sneak peak at her bridal shoot.  LOVE the short and sassy hair!

as promised, here are some of our favorite details from whitney and jay’s wedding.  we honestly did not do a ton of decor at the church – it really did not need it.  when deciding on design, sometimes simple really is better.  with this wedding, the chapel at lake junalaska is so quaint, and has such a charm, that we did not need to do a lot inside.  whereas at the reception, they had a huge building to fill, so we decided more was better placed there.  it was where the guests were spending the most time, and we could maximize the floral better at the venue.  when planning, do not fight what is already there.  maximize your decor where you need it the most.

again, many many thanks to asheville florist beth with studio flora diva, amber holritz for the pics, and melissa at cakes by jane!

asheville_weddingsat the venue, we upgraded the linens to a floor length soft shade of purple.   ask anyone in this office, and they will tell you my pet peeve is linens that do not go to the floor.  or crooked linens.  #weddingplannernightmares

we placed the cake behind the beautiful “old window” that are in the venue.  always thinks of your pictures for cake.  make sure exit signs or fire extinguishers are not in the area for the pics.  that is always the deciding factor for me as to where to place the cake.  and with a cake this pretty, you gotta have a nice backdrop!  asheville wedding cake by melissa over at cakes by jane. yum.

make it personal!  whitney is an art teacher, so she had her students make notes about what “love is”.  the notes where placed around the cocktail hour for the guests to read.

asheville_wedding_plannersone of my favorite details of this wedding was their engagement pictures that lined the stairwell up to the dance party at the reception.  it was not just a collage, or a framed pic on an easel.  the ledge was covered in their pictures that they would be able to later hang in their home.  did you miss this post about their pics?  check it out here.

and you gotta have some lighting.  asheville wedding dj dylan with blazin sounds entertainment nailed not only the music, but the lighting as well.  we switched it up upstairs and went with an electric blue for the dance party.  i love it when guests go into a different part of the reception, and it has a totally different feel.  fantastic.

asheville_weddingswhitney and jay ~ thank you for allowing us to be a part of your day!
