Fall Asheville weddings have just started to come to close… which means we are busy on our spring and summer weddings for next year!  So we are throwing in back to this summer wedding of Nikki + Bradley at The Grove Park Inn!  This sweet couple met in college, and you could feel the love!

This will always, always be a favorite of ours.  You can’t beat this Father-Daughter first look!

The ceremony! Even though there was no rain… you can still have a tent to help guest with the heat!

Let the party begin!

Stay tuned for all the details and the gorgeous summer design!

as always, shout out to the wedding team!

Hannah was a bride with a vision! We really work with our clients to customize services that truly fit their day. Hannah didn’t need help planning or running her wedding day, she had her ducks in a row. But she did need help executing her vision. And what a vision it was!! We often have clients that come to us for help pulling the look of their wedding together, and we are always happy to step in and create!

These two were such a stunning couple. Hannah looked like a movie star in her classic mermaid style dress! And Evan looked like he stepped out of a magazine.  Not hard to get great pictures with these two 😉

Then on to the reception! We helped Hannah transform the Asheville Ballroom into a romantic and elegant space, perfect for their wedding reception. Look at those colors! Hannah’s design was bold and bright, which was a perfect contrast to wintery surroundings. We drew inspiration from Kate Spade with black and white stripped linens and gold accents.

One of our favorite moments of the evening? Hannah and Evan had been taking dance classes at the ballroom, so when it came time for the first dance they stopped the show! With a beautiful dance to “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett, there was not a dry eye in the house!  They were also incredibly generous and joyous, it was such a pleasure to be included in their day and bring their vision to life!

I have always said, and I always say it on our consultation calls with new clients getting ready for their Asheville wedding [or anywhere else!]… You should like and trust your wedding planner. They are literally the last person you are going to see before you go down the aisle… so it’s not going to make for a good experience if you don’t particularly like them. We are incredibly lucky at Verge, we have clients that we form long lasting relationships with and who are friends for many years to come. I worked with Emily and her mother Sally for the 9 months leading up to Emily + Elia’s wedding. I walked away with wonderful friends, and it is every bit of why I love my job.
Emily and Elias wanted their wedding day in Asheville to feel intimate and relaxed. They rented out a bed and breakfast in Montford, the historic district of Asheville, where they could stay with their immediate family and wedding party. That way on wedding day everyone could hang out in their PJ’s, eat breakfast, then listen to music and get ready! Emily gifted her bridesmaids with matching plaid monogramed shirts. She was lovely enough to have one made for me as well, it was the kindest gesture and I wear it often and think of how much fun that day was.

And this first look with dad…. tears.

When I first met Emily + Elias they were just completing venue tours in Asheville. Having seen The Venue {there was this wedding we did there years ago!} they felt it was the perfect place for them to get married. I couldn’t have agreed more.  Emily + Elias wanted somewhere downtown in the middle of Asheville (check) a space that felt unique and intimate (check) and a place for a great party (check). BONUS…they opted for a true Ashvegas vibe for their welcome party and booked the Wedge and Twelve Bones – they had all their bases covered!

Once they had secured The Venue, our focus was in putting together the team for their wedding day. Photography was very important to Emily, she had a very clear vision for what she wanted in her pictures:  lots and lots of lovely light! AJ Dunlap really brought that vision to life. Not only captured pictures with beautiful light, but really captured Emily and Elias and their love for one another. We were lucky that weekend. We had a slow fall and it didn’t seem like the leaves were ever going to change. All through October I kept waiting for the leaves to just turn brown and fall off the trees.  All of a sudden, the first weekend of November they decided to put on a fantastic show! It seemed like every tree was having its last showing of red and yellow and orange – the next day everything went to winter, but nature definitely showed up for Emily and Elias.

Floral and design was also important to Emily. Sally and Emily love pumpkins, so we integrated white pumpkins into the floral design. They were the perfect touch and added a hint of fall to the tables without screaming halloween! Emily kept the floral design very natural, lots of greenery, pops of dark red and merlot, one of my favorite details was the greenery they hung in the ceiling of The Venue, it made the space feel so magical!

Other fun points to note about this Asheville wedding!
Calligraphy: Emily is an incredible artist!! She did all the calligraphy for the wedding including the invitations and the escort cards.

The guest book: A quaker marriage certificate. In the quaker tradition all of the guests at your wedding are the witnesses to your marriage. So even though Emily + Elias are not quaker, I thought this was such a touching way to remember your wedding!

The walk down the aisle: Emily joked afterwards that her father took FOREVER to walk her down the aisle. Mr. Drucker’s response? “I wanted you to enjoy the moment and see all the people who came to witness your wedding.” – Bravo Mr. Drucker!

It was an honor to be a part of Emily and Elias’s wedding.  It was such a lovely evening full of joy and laughter and oh my goodness could those folks dance!

Okay… Does anyone else know where 2017 went?  Our Asheville weddings were all sorts of fabulous and crazy and we got to do some amazing wedding designs!  And we have some of the sweetest clients, truly.  There is no way I can sit here and say that 2017 was the easiest year.  It was not.  But we made it.  We had tears of joy and tears of frustration.  We had clients that literally looked at us, and said you have had a shitty week, let us buy you a drink.  We are here, and we trust you.  It was real conversations. It was crying when they walked down the aisle, because we loved them that much.   And that, my friends, is what it is all about.  About forming a relationship with our clients getting married in Asheville, or wherever they may be, and building trust.  And we love you for it.  You know who you are 😉

We have made a point to carve out some quality time to spend with each other.  We had a *to die for* dinner at The Red Stag at The Grand Bohemian [remember this wedding we did there a few years back?], spent some time together on Thanksgiving, and a couple of weeks ago, one of our clients had gifted us a gift card to the Grove Park Inn Spa.  If you have not been… GO. It was the best reset, and the best time! We are there a lot of Saturdays [see some of our weddings there!], and it was fun to be on the other side.  It was a wonderful to close out the season.  Huge thank you to Mandy and Joel for this luxurious treat!

SO… where does that leave us for 2018?  It leaves us inspired.  It leaves us knowing who we are. And who we are not.  It means we are stronger as a team and as individuals.  It means we are ready.  And we could not be more excited.

Let’s do this.

xoxo,

nicole, ian and sarah

Today’s post?! Real life as an Asheville wedding designer + producer. Today’s subjects are not photo perfect, and they are not what you would find on Pinterest. But this is real life behind the scenes.

It’s double checking the emergency kits and making sure they are all stocked and ready for the season. It’s making sure that the pashminas are tied with care.

It’s making sure that everything that was suppose to come in for next weekend has arrived. And sparklers? Triple checking our inventory. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Bring on spring wedding season!
