can you feel the chemistry?

wow.  not sure where to begin on this wedding.  rachel, dan, and  and i hit it off from the start.  they were so much fun to work with throughout the planning process, the wedding day…and through it all we became friends too! {even though they are gator fans.. and you all know i am a diehard gamecock!}   i was sad the day after their wedding, maybe even already having a little withdrawal.  i never dreamed that the day after their wedding they would call and see if ian and i could go and have drinks with them in downtown asheville.  i mean really…for them to take the time to share with us meant so, so much to me.  we sat and talked for hours over some good vino.  that is why i love what i do.  the people you meet, the stories you hear, and the incredible people who have such a love for each other and it shows in every. single. way.

as many of you know, our girl jennifer had a beautiful baby boy on march 25 {pics coming soon!}  jennifer will be back in full swing in may, but the dedicated planner she is, came to help us set up for an event we worked on for The Knot a week and a half ago.  that’s right, 3 weeks to the day after having a baby.  now that, my friends, is dedication!  i could not help but post this pic of her and sleeping baby helping us load in at coleman place.  no we did not let her lift a thing, but we sure enjoyed having her around.  and baby king was such a trooper – we hope that he enjoyed his first event as much as we loved having him and mom!

….take note of the chick-fil-a.  that is my standard day of meal – i swear i eat it for lunch before every event.

melissa and rich are an amazing couple.  their desire to be with one another showed true as they were faced with many obstacles during their engagment. after finding out early one morning their event venue had burned down and taking it with full stride, their dreams came true at The Grand Bohemian Hotel .  the saying, “everything happens for a reason” is accurate!

studio flora diva showcased a formal romantic garden stlye wedding.  the color palette was pink-coral, deep peach and purple accented with light green and pink.  the wedding assortment consisited of delphinium, lisanthus, phlox, dahlias, gladiolas, green button mums, bells of ireland, stock, hydrangea, garden roses and hypericum berries.  additional plants were provided on the terrace to bring a true garden feel at the ceremony. the bride loved color, texture, and layers!  at the reception we did 3 layers of linens.  a purple smoke benegaline was used as the primary linen, then a gold bichon runner as the coordinating linen.  we added a lilac lamour chair tie down the center of the table to bring in the layered look, finishing the table off with gold trimmed chargers and purple smoke benegaline napkins (bbj linens). the wedding cake also held true to the garden, layered and textured look. cakes by jane did an amazing job! we love working with realities photography.  jill brings joy and laughter throughout the day as she captures the emotions of so many.  melissa and rich felt really comfortable with her!

it’s always a pleasure to have a talented team of wedding professionals. ceremony music was provided by allegro music and the reception music was provided by sound extremescott thompson along with suraj spa and salon had all the ladies looking beautiful, especially melissa!

if you didn’t read melissa and rich’s proposal, scroll down and check  it out.

there are lots of things i love about weddings.  one of them is paper.  good, quality paper customized for each couple, for each wedding.  last fall, i had the amazing opportunity to work with dana at a fine line on a completely custom wedding for anne lanier and tim morton [there wedding pics coming soon!].  anne appreciates paper as much as i do, and had a clear vision of what she wanted.  after talking with dana, we knew she was the one that could bring it all together, perfectly.  the thing about paper, is that it really ties your event together.  i love for the save the date to reflect all other elements from the wedding, and let it set the tone.  lets face it, it just brings a very cohesive look.  here a few pieces from the wedding dana did for us!

a little about dana:  A Fine Line is a full service stationery studio.  We offer fine stationery from our own distinctive line and those of exquisite designers across the country.  We choose only the finest papers from around the world and the best printing methods available, through engraving and letterpress.  Our invitations make a statement from the moment they are received.  They reveal your discriminating taste and style.  Our invitations are not for the masses as we cater to a special customer niche.  We take pride in your invitation and the impression it conveys by offering selections ranging from vintage hand-lettering to stylish scripts, hand-painted motifs and embellishments.  Feel confident in trusting A Fine Line to show that your standards are high and your taste is impeccable.

Inspired by a love of fine papers and elegant hand-lettering, Dana Cochran followed a dream and opened A Fine Line Studio in 2000.  With a keen eye for detail and beauty, she has created a business that is distinct and personal.  Dana is a member of the Society of Scribes, IAMPETH, Carolina Lettering Arts Society, UK Copperplate Special Interest Group, has studied with the Chief White House Calligrapher and continues her calligraphic studies with Master Penmen across the country.   She is always looking for fresh new “fine lines” to offer her clients.  She lives in Asheville with her husband Barry and her dog Gigi.
