Last Friday we introduced you to Emily and Tyler and their spectacular Old Edwards Inn wedding,  we also told you about how much we loved them (hey, Clemson can happen to good people too you guys!). This week we’re going to talk about our design for Emily and Tyler, with lots of pictures of course! So sit back, and enjoy a beautiful way to start your week out!

All of the weddings we design at Verge Events start with a design meeting. This is where we sit down and get to know you, we also ask you about colors, linens, flower etc. But the most important thing for us is getting to know who you are and what you’re all about! Weddings are beautiful, yes, but more than that it is YOUR day. There is no greater compliment than having a couple say “oh my gosh, this is just so us!” when they see the completed product.

After the design meeting, we take everything we talked about and create a Design Concept. This is a custom document created for our clients, it is a creative map of every detail and area of your wedding, full of pictures and descriptions of the entire space. And along with the Design Concept we deliver a Pinterest board that we curate for you. Pinterest is a tool of the trade, however we always say – treat it as inspiration NOT execution. Pinterest is a great place to get creatively fired-up, but ultimately we want your wedding day to be unique, we want your wedding to be the one that everyone is pinning!

Emily and Tyler came to us wanting a wedding that had a traditional feel to it, reflected their southern roots and had a ton of personal details telling the story of who they are and what they love. We were fortunate to have clients that really trusted us to run with their vision, and we did! Their Pinterest board was a wonderful place for inspiration, it’s still live today and it isn’t coming down any time soon, we love it that much.

Ok! are you guys ready to see some pictures?

As we mentioned in last weeks post Emily and Tyler loved to hunt. We weren’t going to mount a big ol’ moose head over the fireplace but it’s nice to bring in little hints of these kinds of things. We used feathers from ducks they had hunted in every boutonniere.

One of the things we love to work with when we’re designing is patterns, a great pattern on a linen can add an unexpected touch that really amps up the style in a space. Emily and Tyler were totally down for using patterns in their design.

Antlers were also incorporated into the design, again as a nod to their hunting background without smacking you over the head with it – no camo here!

Custom cocktail napkins are also a really great way to add a personalized touch to your wedding without breaking the bank, and the possibilities for design and color are absolutely endless! You don’t have to pick just one style, you can mix and match a couple. It’s like the Snapple Facts version of cocktail napkins 🙂

The reception room was beautifully set for a sit-down dinner, with elegant linens, lots of candlelight and beautiful flowers. The floral design was kept very classic with white and greenery.

Late night snacks are always a HUGE hit. Emily and Tyler wanted to serve a southern favorite, the bird dog. Have no idea what we’re talking about? We figured some of the guests might be in the same boat as you, so we included a description on the cocktail napkin. If you’ve never had a bird dog, go get yourself one immediately. They are delicious. It’s a chicken tender, served in a hotdog bun with bacon, shredded cheese, and honey mustard. YUM.

A beautiful southern wedding for an incredibly lovely and generous couple. This is one we will never forget. Emily and Tyler we wish you many many years of happiness and love.

Old Edwards Inn is a venue we always feel very lucky to plan and design weddings with. It’s one of the venues in North Carolina that is just the perfect mix of southern elegance and mountain magic. Emily and Tyler were married there in September during football season (more on that later), and we thought it would be the perfect wedding to visit on this fantastic Friday. And if you’re not having a fantastic Friday, well then, take a quick break, make yourself a cup of coffee and peruse this picturesque wedding.

Part 1: The Planning

Verge Events was referred to Emily and Tyler by a past client. Actually more specifically we were referred to them by a couple who had previously been our clients, who had been referred by another couple who had been our clients, who had been referred by yet another couple who had been our clients. Yes, they were number five in a client referral chain – we’ve been trying to beat that record ever since!

And it almost didn’t happen with Verge Events – why? because Tyler and Emily are die hard Clemson fans, and if you know anything about our office we are Cocks all the way! Ok just kidding (but not about the South Carolina part), they didn’t go running for the door. Everyone agreed that there would be no talk of football (ok occasionally there was some good natured smack talk), but the wedding would need to be planned around the season schedule.

And in spite of the garnet/orange color war quietly going on behind the scenes Emily and Tyler and their fantastic families became friends of ours. This fantastic Southern couple loves to hunt, {Emily once killed a bear!} They incorporated so much of who they are and what they love into this wedding that it made it a dream to plan and design (more on design next week). It was a beautifully elegant night, guests sat down to an incredible meal and danced the night away, and no one worried about the score, because Clemson wasn’t playing! It’s a real thing to plan your date around football in the south, and we are in full support.

Katherine and Patrick were married at the Grove Park Inn on a very dramatic day in June, and Verge was lucky enough to help them plan their day!

Grove Park Inn Wedding Planner

Two of the kindest, loveliest people, their love for one another and their dedication to each other was very evident throughout the day.

At Verge we always joke that we cry AT LEAST once every wedding. Their ceremony definitely got us choked up – personal vows always do that!

How cute is this logo that was created for them!? It was used on the invitation and the welcome bags! A logo is a great way to add a personal touch to your wedding.

It was a beautiful evening, full of fine food, dancing and of course a bang-up sparkler departure!

Asheville is continuing to make its mark in the destination wedding market, and as a company that loves to plan and design weddings here, we say “Go Asheville!”. One of the best parts about living in a destination wedding town are all the fantastic, interesting and different people we get to meet from all over the Country (and sometimes the world)!

Laura and Tyler connected with Verge Events through StudioWed Asheville and we hit it off instantly. The couple live near Washington D.C and Tyler works in The White House for the secret service (how cool is that!?)

They chose to tie the knot at the always stunning Biltmore Estate, with a ceremony on the lawn of the Biltmore Inn and then everyone moved inside for the reception.

Moments we loved:

The first look – how great are these pictures?

The ring bearer! Our mini secret service dude, complete with ear-piece and rings delivered in “The Football”. Fun fact: “The Football” is the top secret brief case that is carried around with the president at all times – it contains lots of secret information and codes for all sorts of not fun things! But it sure made for a super cute ring bearer!

Originally Laura and Tyler had thought they wanted a morning wedding but half way through the planning process decided to move the ceremony to early evening. We are so glad they held true to their gut and decided to do what they really wanted!

The room reveal – Laura cried when she saw the room; happy tears are the only acceptable tears on wedding day!
