Okay… Does anyone else know where 2017 went? Our Asheville weddings were all sorts of fabulous and crazy and we got to do some amazing wedding designs! And we have some of the sweetest clients, truly. There is no way I can sit here and say that 2017 was the easiest year. It was not. But we made it. We had tears of joy and tears of frustration. We had clients that literally looked at us, and said you have had a shitty week, let us buy you a drink. We are here, and we trust you. It was real conversations. It was crying when they walked down the aisle, because we loved them that much. And that, my friends, is what it is all about. About forming a relationship with our clients getting married in Asheville, or wherever they may be, and building trust. And we love you for it. You know who you are 😉
We have made a point to carve out some quality time to spend with each other. We had a *to die for* dinner at The Red Stag at The Grand Bohemian [remember this wedding we did there a few years back?], spent some time together on Thanksgiving, and a couple of weeks ago, one of our clients had gifted us a gift card to the Grove Park Inn Spa. If you have not been… GO. It was the best reset, and the best time! We are there a lot of Saturdays [see some of our weddings there!], and it was fun to be on the other side. It was a wonderful to close out the season. Huge thank you to Mandy and Joel for this luxurious treat!
SO… where does that leave us for 2018? It leaves us inspired. It leaves us knowing who we are. And who we are not. It means we are stronger as a team and as individuals. It means we are ready. And we could not be more excited.
Let’s do this.
xoxo,
nicole, ian and sarah

Today’s post?! Real life as an Asheville wedding designer + producer. Today’s subjects are not photo perfect, and they are not what you would find on Pinterest. But this is real life behind the scenes.

The boxes upon boxes.

The 115 welcome boxes going out to our wedding guests in Asheville.

It’s double checking the emergency kits and making sure they are all stocked and ready for the season. It’s making sure that the pashminas are tied with care.

It’s making sure that everything that was suppose to come in for next weekend has arrived. And sparklers? Triple checking our inventory. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Bring on spring wedding season!
Nicole recently returned from a wedding planning trip in London! Emily and Tom are getting married outside of London later this year, and they, along with Emily’s mom, decided to spend a few days in the area meeting with vendors and getting the lay of the land. We were lucky enough to travel with Nicole’s hubby and destination wedding photographer, Ian, who documented not only the couple, but some of the planning as well. More on their shoots around London to come!
Since this was Nicole’s first on site experience as a London wedding planner, we asked her for a list of things that she had learned about travel and planning a wedding overseas.

Nicole’s Fun Facts:
Travel a few days early! The bride and groom’s plane filled with smoke mid-flight while en route to London, and they ended up being delayed by a full day!
I like to take a piece of home with me… There’s a lot of things you don’t mess with – and coffee is one of them. We traveled with splenda and creamer… Don’t judge.

Receptions are called wedding breakfasts. (You should check out that wiki link, because the history behind why they call it a wedding breakfast is super interesting!) The tasting we had at Caper and Berry was beyond wonderful, and at their super cute tasting cottage!

They didn’t know what a rehearsal was! Apparently they are not a standard there. Who knew?!
Make sure to verify a GPS address before you give it to your guests! Just like in the states, sometimes the hotel does not pop up. You never want your guests to feel lost, especially in a different country.
Make sure international roaming is activated on your phone.

London, we cannot wait to be back to you in July!

We are always thrilled when we have the opportunity to participate in Lonesome Valley Weddings. Lonesome Valley is located in Cashiers, N.C. which is truly one of the most beautiful small towns that we have ever had the pleasure of visiting, and Lonesome Valley is a stunning venue for weddings. We get a picturesque venue in an beautiful area of the country…what more could we possibly want?! So needless to say, we were thrilled to be working with Charlsey and Justin to design and plan their “Glam in the Mountains” wedding at Lonesome Valley!
Bridal prep photos can be some of our favorite images…we love the behind the scenes look, and it’s fun to see some of the wedding details that would otherwise go unnoticed 🙂
Like these gorgeous matching robes that Charlsey and her bridesmaids wore. So cute, right?

We loved the details that Charlsey and Justin chose for themselves and their bridal party. Such a classic look!

This wedding just goes to show that you can’t ever trust the weather! There was a zero percent chance of rain, and not a cloud in the sky, but right as the procession was about to begin, a downpour came out of nowhere! Thankfully, it only rained for about 10 minutes. As soon as the rain had stopped, we ran out, wiped down the chairs, and started again!

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful.

One of the best things about Lonesome Valley weddings is the gorgeous vista!

Charlsey wanted glam in the mountains, and she definitely got it! There were gold accents everywhere, and we hung these beautiful crystal chandeliers in the tent. It was fabulous!

When we showed Charlsey’s mother the reception tent, she responded with giant hugs. Those are the moments we love most…seeing a design come to fruition, and making people happy in the process.

So many emotional moments during this reception.

Followed up by a gorgeous cake…

…and a fantastic party!

One of the things that we loved most about this wedding was that we had an absolutely beautiful tent. It was gorgeous during the daytime, and equally gorgeous (but in a completely different way) at night. So fun!

Delicious late night treats and sparklers finished off an amazing night!

Huge congratulations to Charlsey and Justin! Your day was absolutely lovely! Thank you for inviting us to be a part of it!
And as always, thanks to the amazing vendors who made it all happen!
xoxo

20 years. it does not seem possible to be writing those words. and we could not have done it without every single person who has worked with us, trusted us, cried with us, and celebrated with us. and what better way to celebrate than with a little brand refresh! new logo, new website, and the inspiration to only keep growing. thank you just does not seem like enough... but thank you for loving us! cheers to 20 more 🥂 branding by @charlie_paper! thank you laura!
