it’s that time of year.  the time when lots of couples just got engaged, and the wedding planning has started.  such an amazing + fun time in your life!!  but, as we all know, wedding planning can be stressful.  tons of opinions from everyone, wedding blogs that overwhelm you at the site of them, and then there is pinterest.  get ready to not do anything else for the rest of the day …you get sucked in! so many options, and 1 wedding to incorporate all your top picks.

{enter} a wedding planner.  sometimes we coordinate the day.  sometimes we help with vendors.  sometimes we design the wedding {read: we do not do flowers! we leave that to the pros!}  sometimes we help with everything.  what we help with is all up to you.  some people think when they hire a planner that the planner is going to take over.  and that’s not really the case with us.  we lead you in producing your event …we make recommendations and bring you the options we feel are best based on what you are looking for.  we simplify the process and make it a little bit easier for you so you can enjoy the journey.  go ahead … sit back. relax. celebrate.  it’s your day.  enjoy it + enjoy the planning process!

jennifer worked with katie + seth for their lake lure inn wedding for about 7 months…and as jennifer says, “planning with them was so fun…they knew exactly what they wanted and went for it!”  and we are in love with all the personal details!  together with adrienne from asheville florist, blossoms at biltmore park, the design really came together nicely and truly represented who they are as a couple.

they both are doctors, live in miami, and love some adventure!  seth loves surfing + katie loves biking + color scheme of blue, lavender, and yellow.  so what do you get when you put these elements together?!  a bike wheel and surfboard in the pool!  the place cards were also placed on a bike that blossoms found and made a great standing structure for.  they had so many extras…. welcome bags for all the guests, candy bar, photo booth, lots of fun paper elements to tie it all together, signature drinks, complete with fun straws of course!

we took a different approach to how the ceremony was positioned.  instead of the gazebo being the focal point, we faced the ceremony with the mountains as a backdrop, with gazebo in back. gorgeous and different!  along with katie’s bouquet…all birds of paradise.  we love that she wasn’t scared to go against traditional flowers, and do something she loved!

below are some of our favorite pics of the day!  enjoy!

this couple is near and dear to me, and you have to know the back story.  you see, i helped plan their engagement a few years ago at the biltmore estate!  i will never forget the day i got the phone call from james in alabama.  he said, “nicole, i’m not sure you can help me.  but heres the deal…i have a ring and i want to propose.  i want it to be really special…so i thought i should call a wedding planner!” man. he touched my heart.  he was so excited, and wanted something so special for kathy.  so i decided to take on the job of pulling off one of life’s ultimate surprises.  it was all i could do to not be hiding in the bushes!  we had the blanket, the flowers, the champagne, the glasses…and she said yes!!  perfect.  i told him to give me a call if he decided to get married in asheville, figuring i would probably not hear from them.  a few months later, i get a call.

james :: nicole, this is james.  we are not getting married in asheville.

nicole :: well thats okay!

james :: we want to get married in winston-salem.  and we want to take you with us.  we want you to be a part of our day.

nicole :: {squeal!} of course!

so we begin the planning process from asheville, and they decide on the graylyn estate – a gorgeous property in winston-salem.  i was fortunate enough to be able to take a team from asheville with us to winston!  and james + kathy sure had an amazing wedding team!!  so many hours of planning, phone calls, and designing, and it all leads to this wonderful day…

here are some of my favorite images from the rehearsal ~ a time when we really like to get to know the family!

getting ready starting early since the ceremony was at 11:00 am…{umm.. 5:30 am for the ladies!}.  but that did not stop the excitement that you could just feel! hope you enjoy some of my favorite images from jill + ian of realities photography!

the details were fabulous.  beth from studio flora diva freaking nailed it.  i love that woman.  seriously.  kathy had a soft wedding color palate of greens + blues, which was perfect for a garden ceremony and reception.

… and some of my favorite of the day below.  i truly, truly connected with kathy + james, and am so glad we still chat!! and yes, that is me crying right after i sent kathy down the aisle.  and i cried. the. entire. ceremony.  how could i not when i had the most amazing experience to be a part of everything from the beginning?

kathy + james – what an honor it was.  you both will always, always hold a special place in my heart.  cannot wait to see you next time you are in asheville!

This knit inspiration immediately brought to mind a warm and cozy feeling and I wanted to create that feeling for a wedding. Lush red blankets and sweaters creates a sense of warmth and creamy caramel sauce reminds me of cozy family dinners. I always love to incorporate subtle holiday details to weddings around the holidays, like the glittered acorns while playing off the season’s natural bounty of apples and wheat. I wouldn’t mind cozying up next to a fire at this intimate wedding.
