Planning for a Grove Park Inn wedding with these two was fun with a capital F. Abby and Scott::one whacky, silly, totally in love couple, both the life of the party. Food, fun and personal details were the most important elements they wanted their guests to experience.

About 90% of the couples we work with are from out of town. Abby and Scott both live in Charlotte but they picked the Omni Grove Park Inn for their wedding – and boy are we glad they did! From start to finish these two had us laughing, we are so happy to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Arnold into the Verge Family!

Asheville gave us perfect weather for a stunning mountain view wedding. Framed beautifully by this arbor created by the always-talented Flora. Abby’s vision for her flowers was full of lush bright greenery – beautiful and natural!

Details we loved::

Personalized popcorn from Poppy Handcrafted Popcorn! Provided to the guests at the ceremony to snack on – it’s like being at the movies!

Abby and Scott really wanted the guests to feel like they were at an Arnold’s party – so games were a MUST. The guests had a fantastic time with Giant Jenga, Foosball and Corn Hole (bride and groom themed of course!). There were some epic Jenga battles going on well into the night.

The guest book! A modern take on the traditional sign in book – Abby and Scott had the guests take Polaroid’s of themselves to place in the book along with their well wishes.

Abby’s mix and match table set up! Guests were invited to sit wherever they liked. Abby created a space filled with farm tables, x-back chairs and mixed in rounds with a simple beautiful linen. The effect was an inviting, elegantly rustic room that worked perfectly in the Grove Park Inn surroundings.

It was a perfect night filled with so much love, laughter and of course dancing!!

Verge Events spent a lot of time this spring doing weddings at The Omni Grove Park Inn, Asheville. Seriously, we’re talking six weddings in nine weeks. And we are NOT complaining, we love working with a great team!

Gina and Matt got married in early April. April can be a little bit hit or miss, especially in the early weeks. Fortunately this weekend was a big hit. The temperature was lovely and the skies we clear.

These two were so much fun, you can see it in the pictures! Between “Cards Against Humanity” prior to the wedding, to the table numbers giving a shout-out to their favorite sports players, they were relaxed and having fun all day!

Well hello again! Last week we showed you some shots from Christina and Garnett’s gorgeous Grove Park Inn wedding in Asheville. This week we’re hanging out with Christina and Garnett again, but this time we’re going to take a deeper look at the design Verge Events did for them. Who doesn’t love an immaculately designed wedding in the mountains?…not to toot our horn or anything. Ok, fine – we’ll put our money where our mouth is!

Christina and Garnett’s design was very soft, romantic and elegant. Fluffy white flowers, and touches of soft gold and champagne with a neutral color palate. This was a classy wedding with a capital C!

Here are some pictures from the inspiration board we created for them.

Ceremony::

The Mountain View Terrace was kept classic and minimal for ceremony so as not to distract from the view. The floral arrangements hinted at the fantasticness (not a word, but it should be!) we would reveal for reception.

Christina and Garnett wanted their ceremony to be unplugged, so in keeping with the design a sign written on a champagne gold mirror politely asked guests to put their phones away.

A monogram or a logo at a wedding is a really nice way to personalize details and make them your own. Plus you can use it for years to come on Christmas cards, thank you notes, koozies etc. and everyone will remember where it was first débuted – at your wedding! We worked in Christina and Garnett’s logo on the cocktail napkins, guest towels, menus and programs.

Cocktail Hour::

Cocktail hour was held on the terrace after the ceremony. The Grove Park Inn has a stunning stone fireplace which was adorned with floral and candles (candle light was a MUST in Christina and Garnett’s design concept). Signs on champagne gold mirrors made their appearance again as escort signs for the guests.

Reception::

The room – romantic to the max! Blush pink lighting on white draped walls and big fluffy flowers everywhere! Floral added some variety to the tables by mixing in high and low arrangements. We love those trumpet vases! When you light an event space that has natural light it’s important to know that the color will change as the space transitions to night. We loved how this lighting transitioned!

Chargers really elevate the formality of a table setting. Again we used mirrors for table numbers.

Christina and Garnett kept the guest tables neutral yet elegant with a champagne satin linen, and added some glam to the head table and cake table with an incredible champagne sequin linen. Head tables and cake tables are excellent places to use a really fantastic linen, it just makes everything *pop*.

The cakes! The Grove Park Inn can truly create ANYTHING when it come to a cake. Classic wedding elegance for the bridal cake and a homage to TCU for the grooms cake.

We had the best time watching this wedding come together. Couldn’t have done it without a fantastic team, and a truly awesome bride and groom!

Grove Park Inn Asheville Wedding Spring

Photo Credit: Mozingo Photography

An elegant springtime wedding at the historic Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina. What didn’t we love about this couple? Seriously. She is a gorgeous, generous and easy-going. He is funny, gracious and handsome. Both are from Texas, talk about a southern power couple!

We had a mad-house season this year guys! Which is why the blog has been silent for so long…cue tail between my legs, I’m sorry puppy eyes. I figured what better way to beg your forgiveness then to show you why we’ve been so busy. This year we have seen a big increase in clients booking us for wedding planning AND full wedding design in Asheville and the surrounding areas. We love it when we get to work this way! A wedding is really a team effort, so when you have the luxury of design and planning working from the same office, it streamlines the whole process. Not to mention it is fantastic when it’s all hands on deck and we all get to be there on wedding day!

Christina and Garnett were our first full planning and design clients this year, they kicked off our season with a beautiful Grove Park Inn wedding in April. The view (as always) was spectacular ,the guests partied their butts off, and it didn’t rain, even though it threatened to. It was an incredible wedding, absolutely gorgeous, and we’re sorry that Christina and Garnett don’t live in Asheville so we can make excuses to bump into them and hang out.

Here are some of our favorite pictures from the day!

A first look isn’t for every couple, but it’s a lovely moment before the ceremony when the bride and groom can be alone and have a private moment together before the wedding whirlwind starts, and it’s a great opportunity for some really touching pictures – I mean look at these!

The ceremony was held on the Mountain View Terrace (you don’t have to be a genius to know how it got its name) I don’t know if there is a more perfect venue view of the Asheville mountains.

If you remember, last week we covered lighting. This week we’re going to take a look at it’s close cousin, draping. Draping and lighting go hand-in-hand because if you’re draping a space for your wedding then you’re probably also lighting, and much like lighting, draping can also completely transform a room.

The concept of draping is pretty straightforward; you use swaths of material that can be hung from almost anything to create a desired effect. Most commonly draping is used to “hide” things like tent poles, columns, walls or windows. But! It can also be used in the opposite way and highlight structural elements in your space.

Asheville-wedding-plannerImage credit: Colin Cowie Weddings / Vic Bonvicini Photography / John and Joseph Photography

Maybe you have booked a wedding venue because you love the room, and in that case you probably aren’t going to want to use much draping, if at all, you want to let the room be. Or conversely, maybe you want to create your own vision and space. Raw spaces are often cheaper to book, and if you want to create something unique and specific for your wedding day, draping is the way to go.

And you don’t have to just drape in white! Draping in color can provide a super dramatic effect.

Next up! Lounges – who doesn’t love a gorgeous lounge?
